2018 Installation at Lathom Mark Lodge No268

Monday 22nd October was a fine evening in Southport when members and visitors met at Southport Masonic Hall for Lathom Mark Lodge No268 Installation meeting.  It turned out to be a small but select few in the end but a very enjoyable evening.
The Worshipful Master WBro Geoff Gill PProv GSO had agreed to stay in the chair for another year in order that the lodge’s Senior Warden Bro John Karren can have more time to carry out his Craft duties as Prov Senior Grand Warden.
Representing the PGM was WBro Malcolm Serjeant Prov GSW.   And also in attendance were WBro Maurice Evans PGSD who is the PGM’s Special Representative for the Southport area and WBro David Rotherham GSD.
WBro Gill opened the lodge with several visitors filling the chairs of the missing officers.  The lodge business included the appointment of WBro Kevin Collins PProv GJW as the lodge’s Royal Ark Mariner Ambassador.  It was now time to admit the PGM’s Representative and Grand Officers.
With Salutations given the lodge DC WBro Colin Sherman PProv GMO then went on to Proclaim WBro Geoff Gill Worshipful Master of Lathom Mark Lodge and the assembled brethren greeted the New Master.   WBro John Dixon PGJD then gave a very fine Masters Address.
With all the offices appointed WBro Malcolm Serjeant stepped forward and gave a very assured Address to the Brethren. At the completion of the ceremony WBro Serjeant gave the congratulations and thanks of the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master to the Worshipful Master WBro Geoff Gill for taking on the chair for a second year.
WBro Serjeant also thanked WBro Colin Sherman for the way he had conducted the evening.   Earlier in the evening Colin had given up the role of DC of the lodge after 12 years and swapped it for office of Senior Deacon.
The WM then presented three very generous Charity donations to WBro Malcolm Serjeant, who expressed his thanks on behalf of those who would ultimately receive the money and also commented on the extremely generous amount form such a small lodge.
With the meeting closed everyone retired downstairs to dine.  A very good meal was enjoyed by all and there was plenty of laughter around the room.  We wish the Worshipful Master WBro Geoff Gill and Lathom Mark Lodge another busy and enjoyable year.
